Our Lady of Fatima

Our Lady of Fatima, originally uploaded by dhurricane.

Our Lady will be busy hearing more from me than ever before--Today my doc gave me the results of an ultrasound I had done 2 wks ago. I was breathing easier actually, before I saw him; since I knew if it had found cancer he would have called me before today's appt. No cancer, thank God! But I need a hysterectomy. Damn. I had just told my mother a few weeks ago, that I would never have one of those. And now, it is medically necessary. An enlarged uterus and big fibroid tumors growing everywhere in there. I was in shock as he explained it to me, I suddenly felt cold and dearly wished I had brought my sweater, more to have something to wrap tightly around me than to warm me. But I trust Dr A., he has been my doc since he delivered my son 21 yrs ago; then again 7 yrs ago, saving my life w/an emergency c-section a month early (saved my daughter too). It will be next month sometime...need to increase prayers!

one of my weaknesses is Korean mink blankets. I have yet to find one like this one, so thick and soft and heavy, of the highest quality.

Our Lady of Fatima

Our Lady of Fatima, originally uploaded by dhurricane.

Today, as I transferred the pictures I took of Our Lady from my camera into the computer, I could smell frankincense around me. I thought I was imagining things...I sniffed my clothes...no; I looked around me, no, I was at work as usual and no one was near. We had not been inside a church that had had incense burning. And, I am no saint --far from it! But I took it as a good sign, perhaps Our Lady was pleased with the pictures I took and posted of her. I know she gave me great happiness seeing her!

everytime I take pictures of Our Lady, or Catholic related subjects, it makes me happy, as if that is part of my calling-

hooked on Farmville

hooked on Farmville, originally uploaded by dhurricane.

AND then, my coworker showed me how to play this game, which I had disdained before....it is addictive. I like putting together a farm and moving stuff around. Perhaps it is a sign of a place to come, I wouldn't mind farming or having my own ranch!

RIP, Ted Kennedy

I watched the funeral of Ted Kennedy today, it was a very moving, beautiful service. President Obama made a wonderful speech. He really is a great orator. Sen Kennedy will be missed not only by those who knew him personally, but by the many who benefited from all the programs he brought to people who had no one to look out for them: the poor, the sick, children, all kinds of people. Perhaps that is why God in His infinite wisdom never let him become President; he accomplished so much as a Senator, he changed the world! I can only hope and pray that someone, somewhere, in the position to do so, will follow in his footsteps and be a champion for the poor, and others who need a champion to fight for them.

violence

I read about the murder of the abortion doc....while I am against abortion, I feel this was the wrong way to try to stop it. Did this guy think women would stop being irresponsible and not get pregnant, and that abortion would end? Because unless you tie up women's legs so they cannot do the act, there will be abortions. Take away all abortion clinics, there will still be abortions. There are herbs and pills and underground docs who will do them. SO what then, is the answer? What is the answer, indeed. It starts and ends with women and their choices or lack thereof...President Obama is right. This is one of those issues that is not going to be solved, or go away anytime soon. Not in this administration of the next. It all begins with a person's personal decision and how, or if, they hold life sacred. Murder does not solve murder.

yellowstone supervolcano!

yellowstone supervolcano!, originally uploaded by dhurricane.

here is the scariest scene from "Supervolcano" lloks like the world ending...and the world as we know it, does indeed end!

Supervolcano!

Today is the first day of the rest of my blog.

Have been researching the supervolcano in Yellowstone (caldera) recently; I had first heard about volcanic calderas last year. There are a couple of BBC docu-dramas on this, "End Day", and "Supervolcano". You can view the entire docu-drama "Supervolcano" on youtube. Scary stuff.

Last month, Yellowstone reported an earthquake swarm, in unusual number and intensity. This has spiked interest in the supervolcano scenarios. If you watch the docu-drama, boy, it's scary stuff for a sober mind. A lot of people would rather not hear about it and blow it off. I like researching all kinds of things, this has definitely been one of the more interesting! This is one of the great things about working in a library...knowledge at your fingertips.

....I am very grateful to live way down here in Texas!
